Crowley Lake Campground is a Bureau of Land Management campground near Crowley Lake, with great views of the surrounding mountains and lake. While the surroundings are stark and like a desert, the campground, at 6,800 feet, is popular with anglers.

The large campground features 47 campsites suitable for tents and RVs up to 30 feet long, but hookups are unavailable. Each site includes a picnic table, a fire pit, and a lantern holder. Campsites have no shade, which can be an issue in the hot summers.

Amenities include potable drinking water and vault toilets. A dump station is available on-site for a fee of $10. Firewood may be available for purchase from the camp host when present. Cell phone service is generally good. Leased pets are welcome.

Crowley Lake Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis from May through October, weather permitting. The camping fee is $10 per night, making it an affordable option for campers.

While the campground is stark, it offers unbeatable views of Long Valley, Crowley Lake, the White Mountains to the east, and the Sierra to the west.

Most people stay at Crowley Lake Campground because it’s close to Crowley Lake, one of the best fishing spots in the Sierra. Known for rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout, the lake’s 45 miles of shoreline offer plenty of opportunities for anglers to fish from shore or by boat.

Fishing isn’t the only reason people visit. Crowley Lake is also popular for swimming, waterskiing, wakeboarding, and personal watercraft, making it a great spot for water activities.

Besides fishing, there are several hiking and horseback riding trails in the surrounding area. The campground is popular among photographers for its clear skies, offering excellent stargazing opportunities on clear nights.

While the campground feels remote, it is only a 20-minute drive to Mammoth Lakes, where you can find gas stations, restaurants, supply shops, entertainment, and more.
