Sabrina Campground is a small but popular campground situated along the Middle Fork of Bishop Creek at an elevation of 9,000 feet. Its proximity to the creek and Lake Sabrina, less than a mile away, makes it a favorite among campers and anglers.
The campground offers 18 first-come, first-served campsites. Eleven sites accommodate tents or RVs up to 30 feet, while seven are designated for tents only with limited parking. Long trailers and motorhomes are not recommended, and there are no hookups.
The campground usually operates from mid-May to October, weather permitting. Due to its popularity, especially during the peak season of July and August, it’s advisable to arrive early to secure a site.
Each campsite has a picnic table, a fire ring with a grill, and a bear-proof food storage locker. Leashed pets are welcome. Cell phone service is generally unavailable.
Amenities at Sabrina Campground include vault toilets. No potable water is available, so visitors must bring water for drinking and cooking. Firewood may be available for purchase from the camp host when present.
Tall trees shade about half of the sites, while others offer less shade. But best of all, every site is just a short walk from Bishop Creek, which flows right next to the campground.
The best thing about Sabrina Campground is its location along Bishop Creek and its proximity to Lake Sabrina, one of the most beautiful drivable lakes in the Eastern Sierra. The creek and lake are stocked with trout throughout the season, making them popular with anglers.
Besides fishing, the area is popular with hikers. Multiple trails, including the Lake Sabrina Loop Trail, and more challenging routes lead into the backcountry, offering options for day hikes or overnight backpacking trips.
In the fall, the Bishop Creek area attracts nature lovers, photographers, and artists with its vibrant aspen groves and stunning fall colors.
Due to its remote location, it’s best to bring all necessary supplies and water. Otherwise, it’s about a 25-minute drive to Bishop, where you’ll find gas stations, restaurants, supply shops, and more.
